Background Banner when the Breast Sceening Uinit was launchedThe Well Woman Clinic, founded by the Melvine Edith Patricia Stuart Trust (MEPS Trust) in 2006, is a non-profit organization that provides clinical breast screening, cancer prevention programs, cancer care support and refers patients for treatment. It educates women on breast and cervical cancers and on breast self-examination with the theme “early detection saves lives.”  It also has a national teacher training program on cancer. It is poised to commence a cervical screening program and also raises awareness on prostate cancer. It reaches those who cannot access the Clinic through outreach activities targeting remote villages and vulnerable women.

Other programs offered at the clinic include reproductive and prenatal healthcare, cervical cancer screening, prostate screening, and wellness care for diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and STIs.  To date, the Well Woman Clinic is the only such Clinic in Sierra Leone and is working with the Government and United Nations Fund for Population Activities(UNFPA) to achieve the country program plan.
